Footprints Waipoua 'Step into our World' is a new and innovative locally owned and operated company in association with the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga. Located in Omapere (a little over three hours drive North West of Auckland) one of many small communities that encompass the historically rich Northland region. Footprints Waipoua is a Qualmark Endorsed Visitor Activity that provides guided eco and cultural walks of the largest kauri forest in the world, Waipoua, hence the name, Footprints, suggests 'exploration' and Waipoua, the 'place of'. Footprints Waipoua is the only local Department of Conservation concessionaire and are members of various tourism associations. Footprints Waipoua operates several different Day and NIGHT experiences that vary in length from forty minutes to five hours so as to cater for the FIT, Group, Exclusive, Educational and Conference markets. The objective of all our tours including our signature 4 hour TWILIGHT ENCOUNTER tour is for our local Maori guides to use ecological and cultural knowledge including song and instruments to bring this unique eco system to LIFE.
