Over The Top began its adventure in 1986 when Louisa (Choppy) Patterson realised her dream to show a secret part of New Zealand to visitors who desired an experience not normally accessible.
To comb on a sandy beach where solitude is guaranteed, drink champagne at a remote alpine lake, land on a pristine glacier, meander through a rainforest, immerse in nature - see seals, dolphins and penguins in a habitat seldom frequented by man.
In a world bombarded by the demands of technology and haste - Over The Top gives the discerning visitor the opportunity to tip toe through the silence.
The Fleet
The company operates a fleet of five distinctive modern black helicopters - the quality of which reflects and matches the prestigious ness of our tailor made experiences.
The fleet are maintained to a premium both mechanically and aesthetically.
Modern technology is pursued with 50% of our fleet being purchased new since 2003.
Safety is paramount with the company being recognised nationally and internationally. Over the Top has received the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Operators Safety Award every year since 1999 - the only company in New Zealand to do so.

Our Play Ground
Over The Top is based in Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand. We offer excursions locally, throughout Fiordland and indeed throughout the country.
We are holders of Department of Conservation Concessions allowing us access to the Fiordland National Park, Mt Aspiring National Park, and numerous other areas from mountain tops to private land restricted in access, remote lakes, high country stations and our restored gold miners cottage.
We will introduce you to some of New Zealander's most distinctive characters. Fishermen, Farmers, White baiters, Viticulturists, Eco guides, Chefs - Genuine Kiwi folk, friends of ours who delight in making your stay a once in a life time experience.

Queenstown
Situated in New Zealand's South Island, Queenstown sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Surrounded by towering mountain ranges and flowing rivers, the area is rich in history from it's Maori land wars to the pioneers who settled the area in the 1860's in pursuit of gold.
Fiordland National Park - Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound
A spectacular glacial fiord surrounded by towering mountains, waterfalls and native rain forest. Only thirty minutes flight time from Queenstown your helicopter will take you from the tussock landscape of Central Otago, over the majestic Southern Alps through the glacial carved valleys down to the ancient fjords.
Your pilot will narrate the history of the area, the forming of the land, the unique secrets of the fjords. You will learn of the flora, the fauna and the whys and wherefores of an extreme rainfall in an untouched world.
