Greenhill The Lodge is located right in the heart of New Zealand's food and wine mecca, Hawke's Bay. An exclusive, historic mansion which has hosted English royalty, the lodge is situated on a hill top overlooking classic New Zealand farm and grazing land close to Hawke's Bay's world-famous vineyards.

Greenhill The Lodge's central location makes it the ideal base for guests wishing to indulge in the local, gourmet delights and there are many ways to experience the vintages of Hawke's Bay wine country. Guests may choose to self drive with a Hawke's Bay wineries guide map or embark on a wine tour hosted by a local expert. There are over 40 wineries with cellar door facilities scattered within a 30 minute drive of Greenhill, and popular choices for a relaxed, languorous winery lunch in the sunshine include Black Barn Vineyards, Clearview Estate Winery, Craggy Range Winery, Sileni Estates and Te Awa Winery.

Gimblett Gravels, a terroir of 32 wineries situated in the Western Plains, a premium wine growing area of Hawke's Bay, is a stone's throw from the property and produces some of New Zealand's most sought after Cabernet, Merlots and Chardonnays. Mission Estate Winery, the oldest vineyard in New Zealand, and Church Road Winery, home to the renowned Church Road Winery Restaurant and New Zealand's only wine museum are also a short drive away.

For food lovers wanting to experience the seasonal delights on offer, the Wine Country Food Trail is a must, taking in farms and wineries across Napier, Hastings and Havelock North. At the weekend, 'not to be missed' events are the weekly Hawke's Bay Farmers' Markets in Napier every Saturday morning and at the Hawke's Bay Show Grounds on Sunday mornings. Locals and visitors alike flock to these markets to see, touch, smell and taste the many 'local only' goods.

Golf is another major attraction in the area and the tariff includes playing rights and fees at Hastings Golf Club. Established in 1898, it has been developed to become one of the leading clubs in New Zealand. The lodge is also located within 30 minutes drive of award-winning Cape Kidnappers Golf Course.

At Greenhill, the main lodge building houses six, ensuite guest rooms, most of which open to the terrace and sensational views over a magnificent, restored pergola. Behind the house's immaculate spa house, gymnasium, swimming pool and orchard lies Little Greenhill, a self-contained unit.

True to its period, the house also has a panelled billiards room with a gigantic table. There are plenty of books here too, and space for bridge tables by the great fireplace.
