Queenstown's Original Luxury Lodge

A warm welcome, impeccable service and a relaxing environment convey the essence of the lodge and an inclusive tariff makes for a relaxing and uncomplicated stay - enjoy a full breakfast with a different choice each morning, afternoon tea and a 4-course dinner followed by handmade truffles. Drinks and canapes are served before dinner.

Originally built by one of Queenstown's founding families and completely renovated and modernised in 2004, the lodge has a great deal of character and charm incorporating original features and capturing the welcoming ambience of an authentic country estate house.

Location

Set at the base of Remarkables Mountains which appear to climb straight out of the lodge grounds lends an dramatic element to the lodge setting. Shafts of sunlight streak through the peaks of this rugged mountain range in the morning and at night the rising full moon is a breathtaking sight during dinner in the evening. Panaromic views from the dining room compete with scrumptious breakfasts and divine dinners.

Relaxation

Spacious sitting areas, a sun lounge opening onto the swimming pool, a cosy bar and spacious grounds provide guests with ample space to relax and enjoy this quintessentially South Island environment.

The lodge's mature grounds boast a variety of fruit trees, providing ingredients for home made preserves as well as shady seating areas to relax and enjoy the view. The gardens are overlooked by a sun lounge with a sauna and hydrotherapy spa, opening onto a swimming pool and tennis court and, for the cooler evenings, an outside fireplace.

Accommodation

Slip into our superking and king beds with Australian Heritage linen and crisp cotton sheets.

Soak in a deep claw-footed bath brimming with chemical-free water direct from our mountain waterfall (or some rooms have spa baths) or enjoy a long shower with Seascape toiletries.

Lounge in thick fluffy bath robes and slippers and listen to the selection of CDs provided with the stereo in your room.

Delve into the complimentary mini bar and relax on your balcony and take in the views.

We believe it should be a pleasure every time you return to your room - whether because of the freshly presented flowers from the garden, a jar of home made cookies replenished, or our special evening turn down service including fresh lavender on the pillows - so our guests feel both at home and thoroughly spoiled.

Owner managers ensure attention to every detail supported by a small team of resident staff, including an award winning chef, providing attentive and discreet service.

Experiences

A number of unique experiences are on offer, including a two-day wilderness walk staying overnight in a mountain hut, with the lodge hostess on hand to take care of things and an experienced guide to ensure you get the best from your adventure.

Or take a tour with a wine maker of the wineries on our wine list (some also produce olive oil, walnuts and cherries also used by the lodge chef).

Honeymooners are upgraded free of charge to our Garden Suite which is a two-roomed suite opening directly onto the garden and offering privacy in a wonderfully romantic setting.

A helicopter can whisk guests to the top of Remarkables Mountains for a glass of champagne and a scenic flight over Queenstown or farther afield.
